Some of the mining companies operating in Namibia will battle for supremacy at the 2018 Intermines Sports Games that will take place from 5 to 7 October at the Skorpion Sports Park in Rosh Pinah.
The games are hosted annually to promote good health and productivity as well as to create an interactive platform for the Namibian mining sector.
This year, Skorpion Zinc (SZ) will host the Intermines Sports Games.
Confirmed participants at this year’s games are Swakop Uranium, Dundee Precious Metal, Tschudi Basil Read, B2Gold, Navachab, Rosh Pinah Zinc and Namdeb.
Teams will be participating in five disciplines - Soccer, Netball, Volleyball, Pool and Darts.
The Skorpion Zinc Intermines Organising Committee thanked the Skorpion Zinc management and business partners for their support.
“We are delighted to host the fifth Intermines games. We have some of the best facilities and promise the visiting teams to have a great sporting weekend.
“We are all set and ready to welcome our fellow colleagues to this event. Whilst it is a socialising platform, we also believe that it is a platform to share ideas, improve and cultivate a safety culture,” Nora Ndopu, Head of Corporate Affairs at Skorpion Zinc said.
The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
