Govt oscillates on desalination plant

Government is still to decide whether to build a new desalination plant at the coast or buy the existing one owned by Orano, the newly-appointed NamWater CEO, Abraham Nehemia, told the Windhoek Observer this week.

NamWater eyes Areva Desalination Plant

The Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) is eyeing to acquire the Orano Resources owned, Orano Desalination Plant near Swakopmund, it emerged this week. 

NamWater calls for restrained water use

Despite good rains this year compared to last year, the provision of water to the country’s central regions remains a concern, NamWater warned this week.
Water utility, NamWater, is planning to construct two water plants in the south of the country at Bethanie and Grunau for an undisclosed amount.
Government has so far paid N$325 million to settle part of the N$600 million that it owed Italian contractor, Salini Impregilo, for work done at the Neckartal Dam.
