The Windhoek Observer is reliably informed that Oosthuizen tendered his resignation following a lengthy and heated meeting between !Naruseb and the TransNamib board.
!Naruseb confirmed on Thursday night that he had met with Oosthuizen and the board earlier during the day.
He said he is aware of Oosthuizen’s resignation but that he had not yet read the resignation letter which was received by his secretary.
The minister also revealed that he would be meeting with the Air Namibia Board of Directors today.
Oosthuizen was appointed TransNamib board chair by former Minister of Works and Transport Erkki Nghimtina in July 2014, taking over from Festus Lameck.
He recently stepped down as acting Chief Executive Officer of the Roads Contractor Company after making headlines for irregular practices.
His academic credentials came into question at the end of 2014 amid claims that he was working in Namibia illegally as he was serving in a position contrary to his work permit conditions.
