The Namibian Police have arrested the second suspect in an alleged rape of a 34-year-old woman in Mariental.
NamPol’s crime investigations coordinator for the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay, confirmed to Nampa on Tuesday that the 37-year-old man, who was at large since the weekend, has now been arrested.
His accomplice, Hendrick Le Roux, who was arrested on Saturday, appeared in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday where he was denied bail.
His case was postponed to 09 April for legal aid application and laboratory results to be obtained.
It is alleged that two men, who were drinking the traditional brew tombo with the rape victim at a house in the Aimablaagte area, followed her when she left in the direction of the graveyard, overpowered and raped her.
