AFRICAMAGIC’S Big Brother StarGame came to an end last Sunday night (5 August) with the crowning of South African Keagan Peterson, the winner of the 91-day drama-filled show that propelled him to superstardom and the massive US$300,000 prize.
The Cape Town lad hit the jackpot after a journey started in Downville with partner Lee who Biggie evicted the night Africa upgraded Keagan to Upville.
This means South Africa has won Big Brother for the first time after a long wait.
SOME people say music brings joy to the heart and others say you can see the world through music.
Both these sayings appear true for 23-year-old Francois David McNab who just returned from a tour of the United States as part of the Voices of Namibia who participated in the World Choir Games. The tour has transformed him into a joyful bundle.
The choir games attracted hundreds of choirs from around the world to Cincinnati in the US for about three weeks of competition to show who the most melodious voices are.
TONGUES are wagging and the rumour mill is running at full-speed once again after word hit the street that one of Namibia’s most prominent male rappers is gay.
Homosexuality, although considered a taboo in the country, is reportedly very common in many communities. Some countries have even legalised same-sex marriages to reduce the prejudices and the stigma gays are subjected to.
Celebrities such as Sir Elton John, Ricky Martin, Jay Manuel and the late Alexander McQueen were not ashamed of their sexual preferences, and proved that by stepping out of the closet to tell the world about it.
THE Môreson School for learners with intellectual and developmental disabilities has organised a musical show scheduled for 16 August in partnership with the College of the Arts.
Titled “Come to Our Village – Same but Different” the show will take place in the main auditorium of the National Theatre of Namibia. It will have two slots – one at 11h00 and the other 18h00.
The show is the result of an exchange programme between Namibia and Norway, which has been in operation since 2009.
