The National Arts Council of Namibia (NACN) will host a SADC region summit to address the challenges facing the creative industries.
The Art Summit of Southern Africa (ASSA) is scheduled to take place from 20 August to 23 August at a venue soon to be announced. The theme of the summit will be “Human Creativity is a vital Economic, Social and Cultural Resource”.
This will be Namibia’s first opportunity to host the event and the first opportunity for participating countries to discuss the regional integration and prioritization of the creative industries into national and development policies.
The ASSA will be a gathering of individuals representing the creative industries from a technical, financial and administrative perspective across various backgrounds, who will bring ideas and recommendations on the direction and requirements of the creative industry across the continent.
