Diamond sales drive commercial banks liquidity

The overall liquidity position of commercial banks improved during September, Money and Banking Statistics released by the Bank of Namibia has shown. 

De Beers to launch new line of synthetic diamonds

Anglo American’s diamond unit De Beers announced Tuesday the launch of Lightbox Jewelry that will begin marketing a new brand of laboratory-grown diamond jewelry in September. 

The country’s diamond cutting and polishing industry is slowly taking shape and may become a major sector in the near future.

Namdeb produces 472,000  carats in Q1

Diamond producer, Namdeb Holdings, increased its production by six percent to 472,000 carats in the first quarter of this year, parent company Anglo American said in a recently released report.

A decade ago, 31-year-old Saviour Kaunda was fighting an uphill battle for survival, while working as cashier; and today he is a qualified diamond marker, who is the youngest expert in his field in Namibia.
