The 18th edition of the annual Top Score 7-a-Side Soccer Tournament was lunched on Tuesday at the Ramblers Sports Field in Pioneerspark.
The tournament, sponsored by Namib Mills to the tune of N$126,000, will be contested by 75 corporates and other businesses.
Matches will kick-off this Friday from 18H30.
The winning team will receive N$13,000 in prize money, while the runners up will get N$8000.
Third and fourth placed teams will receive N$6, 500 and N$3,000 respectively.
The two teams with the best supporters will also win cash prizes of N$1 750 each at the end of the tournament.
Dial-a-Consultant won the 7-A-Side tournament last year after beating NamPower 2-0 in the final.
“Good players inspire themselves, but great players inspire others. This tournament teaches the important quality of teamwork and supporting one another. It is a platform to get to know your colleagues better, to build relationships and to have some fun,” Marne Bouwer, senior brand manager of Namib Mills urged the players at the launch.
The 7-A-Side has also expanded to other towns such as Ongwediva and Swakopmund, while a further expansion to other towns is still in the pipeline.
“The aim of the tournament is to encourage companies to use this popular social event as a team building initiative as well as an opportunity to get their employees to participate in these friendly games with the aim of boosting staff morale,” Bouwer said.
